During his visit, the Prime Minister offered prayers at the temple and took part in traditional religious rituals and the ceremonial lamp offering. He also paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose determination and leadership were instrumental in rebuilding the Somnath Temple after Independence.
Prime Minister Modi later addressed the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav gathering, highlighting the temple's enduring significance as a symbol of faith, heritage, and national pride. On the occasion, he released a commemorative postage stamp to mark the 75th anniversary of the temple's reopening, honoring the historic milestone and the vision of the leaders who made its reconstruction possible.
The celebration also featured a spectacular flypast by the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team of the Indian Air Force. The aerial display over the temple complex was witnessed by the Prime Minister and thousands of devotees and visitors, adding grandeur to the commemorative event.
Following the ceremony, Prime Minister Modi conducted a roadshow in Gir Somnath, accompanied by Bhupendra Patel and Harsh Sanghavi. Large crowds gathered along the route to welcome the Prime Minister and participate in the historic celebration.
